Reclaiming Tradition, Empowering Women & Building Community

The goal of Around the Kitchen Table (ATKT) is to strengthen Aboriginal women’s ability to fight the spread of HIV, hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections by reclaiming tradition. Together we are building a community network of support, education and action.

ATKT Teams Oct 2010

Chee Mamuk trains team of women from Aboriginal communities to run sessions on healthy self-esteem, healthy sexuality, and drugs and alcohol. These sessions are combined with local cultural activities such as moccasin making, beading, drum making or basket weaving. Traditional foods, ceremony and great conversations are also included in the sessions. Each community adapts ATKT to meet their own community needs.
